Theme and deadline

What will we be expecting?

The theme is: Imagine this; you're home, you're bored, your cable is off and Elftown isn't working! How do you possibly entertain yourself? Well don't look at me, I don't have the answer! That's why I'm asking you! This contest is to see all the fun filled and entertaining games we can come up with.

1. NO STEALING LITERATURE. The game MUST be written by you. If anyone is found to be stealing someone else's work they will be disqualified from this and all future official written contests. The piece that you enter can be old, but it must not have been submitted previously in an different official contest. If your work has been submitted into a non-official contest, then you may still enter it here.

2. No renamed games that have already been created, please. We accept that you may be inspired from somewhere, but if you make a game called ‘Julies Hopscotch’, it's not going to cut it with us. Original work here please.

3. [LENGTH:]

-If you're submitting a prose entry, the story must be no less than 500 words and no more than 3000.

4. No pornography or excessive violence please. Use your common sense as to what would be acceptable and what not, but the crew's decision in this matter is final.

5. - You may submit one game to this contest.

6. - Quality restrictions. If you want us to put effort into reading the game, put effort into writing it. Games with exceptionally bad spelling and/or grammar will be disqualified. If your game isn't going to make the cut, we'll put a comment underneath the entry saying so.

7. If you wish to discuss something about how the contest is run, or the rules, then please use the official contest forum: <forum:Elftown contests>!

CONTEST WILL RUN FROM: 05/01/09 - 09/01/09?

This contest is officially CLOSED

Note: Two games will be picked out by the Council and Assembly among all those presented.

Please Note: Asking people to vote for you is against the rules. Although you may advertise the Main Street Poll in your mood, diary, or house, it is against Elftown Official Competition rules to directly ask people to vote for you or influence people to vote for you through use of public wikis, diary entries, messages, in your mood, etc.

Participants will receive builders badges

2009-04-10 [Alexi Ice]: Does it look better?

2009-04-10 [Chimes]: It does. :]
Does anyone have the link for True's banner creation list thing? Akane'll need it to request the banner. :)

2009-04-10 [Lothuriel]: No fan-fiction in this contest. We accept that you may be inspired from somewhere, but if you make a game called ‘Julies Hopscotch’, it's not going to cut it with us. Original work here please.

This is the only part I have issues with. Hopscotch is not a copyrighted fiction. And who's Julie? Maybe Imma tard but, I don't understand the rule.

and you might want to change [game] to <b>game</b>

2009-04-10 [Chimes]: She basically means don't take hopscotch and put your name in front of it, I think. That's how I read it anyway.

2009-04-10 [Lothuriel]: Ah, ok....I am a tard then XD

2009-04-10 [Alexi Ice]: It shouldn't be considered Fanfiction though, thats a bit dorky! LOL. I will change it.

2009-04-10 [Alexi Ice]: Neh should be proud of me! I used the veiw diffent button for once! Thanks, Loth!

2009-04-10 [Chimes]: I only just started doing that. :P XD

2009-04-10 [Alexi Ice]: Me too! I just learned it existed...>> Oh well, it is certinaly a handy little tool.

2009-04-11 [Lothuriel]: You're welcome hon.

2009-04-11 [Alexi Ice]: ! I feel special ! Thanks, Lind...I hope I put that in the right place.

2009-04-11 [Linderel]: You're welcome. As a side note: if you must abbreviate my name, please say Lin. Not Lind.

2009-04-11 [Alexi Ice]: Oh! Gotcha, no problem, Lin!!!

2009-04-12 [Alexi Ice]: [Yncke] - Thanks for the edit! Grammar = Yuck. Hehehe.

2009-04-16 [Hedda]: I suggest that you move the part about theme above the detail and obvious rules about no copying and such. The most important thing is the name of the contest and then the theme.

Then all other rules and such can be further down.

2009-04-16 [Alexi Ice]: Fair enough, the theme was my favorite part to come up with anyway. (I actually came up with the rules first before figuring out what I was going to do with them)

2009-04-25 [Hedda]: Deadline? When is it going to start?

2009-04-25 [Alexi Ice]: ZOMG I have a banner! <3 Thank you, True! (Hedda..IDK, I was waiting for you to tell me when I could run it ^^) I say ASAP.

2009-04-25 [Hedda]: I don't know... Ask someone else <img:stuff/zabuN-gif.gif>

Do as you see fit and people can complain and you can change then.

2009-04-25 [Alexi Ice]: Alright cool, thankies! I think we should run it on May 1 so it's even and run it until July 1st so they have plenty of time!
